Damage Types We Cover

Texas storms produce four insurable damage categories. Each needs different documentation. We know what adjusters look for.

Our 5-Step Claim Process

Houston claim experience across every major TX carrier. We coordinate; you don't deal with the carrier alone.

1

Free Inspection

60-point roof inspection with timestamped photos and written report.

2

File Your Claim

We provide all documentation. You file directly (we never act as a public adjuster).

3

Adjuster Meeting

A Tell Project Roofing rep meets your adjuster on the roof — walks through every impact.

4

Supplement Filing

If the initial estimate misses items, we submit a supplement with line-item proof.

5

Schedule Install

Once approved, install your new roof and handle the depreciation release.

Roof Insurance Claim FAQs

Will my homeowner's insurance cover roof damage?

In Texas, most standard HO-3 policies cover sudden and accidental damage from hail, wind, hurricanes, and falling debris. Wear-and-tear damage is not covered. Our free inspection identifies which categories your damage falls into so you can file with confidence.

How much does the inspection cost?

Inspections are 100% free with no obligation. We deliver a written report, timestamped photos, and an itemized estimate so you have everything needed to file a claim — even if you choose another contractor for the work.

How long do I have to file a claim after a storm?

Texas Insurance Code generally allows up to 1 year from the date of loss to file a claim, but earlier is always better. Memory of the storm date is sharper, witnesses are available, and damage is more clearly attributable.

My adjuster said my damage is "cosmetic." Can I dispute?

Yes. "Cosmetic" denials are common when carriers want to reduce payout. We can document that the damage compromises material warranty and shingle integrity — both of which constitute functional damage under most carriers' definitions. Call us before accepting a cosmetic denial.

Do you act as a public adjuster?

No. We are a licensed Texas roofing contractor (RCO-059043), not a public adjuster. We don't take a percentage of your claim. We're paid only when we install your new roof, which means you keep your full settlement.

What's a "supplement" and when is it needed?

A supplement is a formal request to your insurance carrier to add items the initial estimate missed — common examples are ridge venting, ice-and-water shield, drip edge, and code-required upgrades. We file supplements when the original estimate is incomplete.

What about my deductible?

Your deductible is your responsibility. It is illegal in Texas (HB 2102) for any contractor to waive, absorb, rebate, or pay your insurance deductible. Any contractor offering to do so is committing fraud.

Which insurance carriers do you have experience with?

We've documented claims with State Farm, Allstate, USAA, Farmers, Liberty Mutual, Travelers, Progressive, Geico, Texas Farm Bureau, and most regional carriers serving the Houston metro.
